Starting at Johnson City Courthouse at 9a (arrive early at 8a for social time with coffee and donuts), the Bikers Toy Run heads west and swings through Fredericksburg, then up TX-16 N through Llano to the small town of Cherokee, picking up bikers along the way. We ride independently until we get to Cherokee where we gather together and ride into the Cherokee Children's Home together. The home makes us lunch and we give out presents and give the children rides, weather permitting. Usually we leave about 1-2p. One present per person or cash. With Santa and sleigh full of wrapped presents purchased through donations and proceeds from the Johnson City Pig Roast, the children of the Cherokee Home will be wide-eyed and smiling as Christmas joy is delivered and the motorcycle enthusiasts share a meal with the children and spend the afternoon with them to make their day special. Every 1st Sat, BEER & HYMNS, FREDERICKSBURG STYLE: At Fredericksburg Brewery (on US-87 S, just south of Fredericksburg). 5-6:30p. A refreshing monthly get-together that combines the harmony of hymns with the fellowship of beer. Very informal and completely nondenominational. There is no program, no pulpit, no pews, and never a collection plate. Singers stand on concrete amid towering stainless steel beer vats and sing together for an hour or so, sometimes with a song leader, sometimes without. Pints of the brewery's signature beer circulate for $4, and free bottled water is available. Event is free and open to the public. "We don't start or end with a prayer, there is no 'message,' there is no preacher. It is about fellowship, hanging out together, and having fun. We mostly just sing."
