Spur 356: Johnson City, connects US-281 to US-290, N-S. It is an extension of Nugent Avenue. It was main road through town, running by the courthouse, before 281 bypassed the town.

US-290: Major E–W corridor. Starts E of Austin (in Houston), W thru ATX, Dripping Springs, Johnson City (& US-281), FBG, Harper, ends at I-10 half way between Kerrville and Junction.
