This is a complete list of the council of government (COG) organizations in the Texas Hill Country. In this category are "development councils" as well . . same thing, different name.

Each COG serves designated counties and attempts to promote common interests, including tourism, economic development and regional issues. As one of them states, their mission is to enhance the lives of all residents of the COG Region by working in mutual respect and partnership with all levels of government, the business sector, and the community at large to meet regional challenges and to create regional strengths. Each is a voluntary association of cities, counties, and special governmental districts.

Typical focus areas include: 211 information services, 911 & emergency communications, aging, air quality, economic development, GIS & mapping, head start education, homeland security, housing, law enforcement academy, maps & reports, public safety, regional planning, regional training & workshops, regional transit, solid waste planning, sustainable places planning, veterans services, weatherization, and workforce efforts.
