Why septic system maintenance, and how often? Pumping every 2-5 years is generally recommended. A number of factors influence when you should pump, including: the size of your tank, number of people at using your sewer, what you are flushing into your sewer, and how often you are flushing into the sewer. If you use a garbage disposal you will need to pump every 1-2 years. A tank with too much build up of solids causes slower draining, and sewage backups into your home (toilets, showwers, sinks, washing machines, dishwashers, and other water-using appliances and fixtures). Your strategy should be to: 1) Reduce the waste (solids) build up in the tank and sewer pipes, and 2) Minimize the risk of slower draining. If you wait too long, a tank filled with solids can lead to issues that cost much more than a simple pumping. Neglecting routine maintenanc,e like periodic inspections and pumping, can result in the septic system failinh prematurely. The consequences of a septic system failure can be quite serious, so property Onrs should do everything in their power to avoid them. Consequences can include the spread of sewage-borne diseases (like dysentery, hepatitis, and typhoid fever), damage to cabinets, flooring, foundations, and landscape.
Many of these companies also perform some waste related services, such as: excavation, grease trap cleaning, lift station pumping, grit trap cleaning, industrial pumping, etc.

Why septic system maintenance, and how often? Pumping every 2-5 years is generally recommended. A number of factors influence when you should pump, including: the size of your tank, number of people at using your sewer, what you are flushing into your sewer, and how often you are flushing into the sewer. If you use a garbage disposal you will need to pump every 1-2 years. A tank with too much build up of solids causes slower draining, and sewage backups into your home (toilets, showwers, sinks, washing machines, dishwashers, and other water-using appliances and fixtures). Your strategy should be to: 1) Reduce the waste (solids) build up in the tank and sewer pipes, and 2) Minimize the risk of slower draining. If you wait too long, a tank filled with solids can lead to issues that cost much more than a simple pumping. Neglecting routine maintenanc,e like periodic inspections and pumping, can result in the septic system failinh prematurely. The consequences of a septic system failure can be quite serious, so property Onrs should do everything in their power to avoid them. Consequences can include the spread of sewage-borne diseases (like dysentery, hepatitis, and typhoid fever), damage to cabinets, flooring, foundations, and landscape.
